Whale Watching is our recurring segment where we share the most significant options buys by smart money from the previous trading day.

This alert came in on RIOT towards the end of the day yesterday. This was a repeater alert as someone or someones were building a position through repeated option buys in close proximity on the same contract. This one has approximately a month to play out and is in a volatile industry so certainly has the potential to be interesting. This isn’t one that I own right now but believe it at least deserves a place on my watch list.

SPY is up nicely premarket today! As of now we are sitting just above a positive gamma floor of 745. We will see how that materializes when the market opens. Positive gamma generally will act as a strong floor as dealers are forced to buy the dip in these scenarios. Of course, it’s always worth waiting and seeing how it redistributes when the market opens. Today could be a clunky day in the market as it is OPEX day and also the last trading day of the week before a holiday and three day weekend. Keep things tight if you do trade today!
