Whale Watching is our recurring segment where we share the most significant options purchase by smart money from the previous trading day.

SNDK is an all familiar name as it has been one of the biggest runners of the year and winners in the AI/memory run up. It has recently cooled off a bit. However, someone began loading up on August contracts yesterday to the tune of millions in this single call. This one is obviously super volatile and moves quickly when it gets momentum. I don’t have a position here but will add this one to the watch list to monitor it over the coming days. I’d like to see how this one plays out and if all the money sunk in this contract means something or if it doesn’t amount to much.

SPY is down nearly a percent this morning as I type this. Google and Tesla reported earnings yesterday morning and the market did not react well to either earnings report. It’s having a drag on the market this morning. We are in a deeply negative gamma pocket right now as I type this. Negative gamma will accelerate moves. One observation I’d like to add is often when we trade down this aggressively premarket we often drift up to close some of the gap during the trading day. I will be watching to see if this happens today to see if we have any opportunity to trade this gap. As always, I will wait to see how gamma materializes when the market is open before making any final calls.
