Whale Watching is our recurring segment where we share the most significant options purchases alerted by our scanner from the previous trading day.

There wasn’t much action on the options chain yesterday that was worth noting. This short dated contract was one of the few that triggered an alert yesterday. I always issue the caution to be careful with these short dated plays as they can be very profitable or very painful. Manage accordingly. SKHY is down premarket today so there is a chance this one could pan out. I am not actually in this one so I am just observing how it plays out. I just wanted to share even though it’s short dated!

SPY is green premarket by about a quarter of a percent as I type this. We have stacked overhead gamma which could act as a magnet towards price. The overhead gamma is the most significant exposure today. We can’t ignore the negative gamma stacked underneath. It isn’t as large as the positive gamma but could absolutely come into play if there is weakness in the market today. Remember that negative gamma tends to accelerate moves when price action encounters this exposure. As always, I will wait to see how the market opens and how gamma materializes before making a final judgement. However, I look for the market to not make a major move today and to continue to channel around in the current ranges.
